I am a self-thought artist who learned how to
paint simply from experience, observation and from experimenting
with colour and different media.
I am currently conducting a survey, I will
appreciate if you give your feedback by following this
link, Thank you.
Who I am
-
Born in Malta in 1972
-
At a very young age I had interest in drawing
at school (sketching on books, pencil cases etc)
-
Between 1985 - 1987 I attended art classes at
the School of Arts in Valletta (Malta Chamber of Arts & Commerce),
studied still life drawing and pottery
-
In 1986 participated in the 16th International
Children's Art Exhibition (Japan).
-
From 1987 to 1996 worked on various
commissioned works in the local community in Sliema and other
private works
-
In 2003 started developing my talent in oil
painting and other media, working on various Maltese landscapes and
still life.
-
January 2009 moved to Athens, Greece where I
worked on several watercolour and acrylic paintings of local scenery
-
In September 2009 moved to Sydney, NSW,
Australia, living in the Hills Region and working for University of
Sydney. Currently working on several private art projects including
murals.
I enjoy painting landscapes, seascapes as well
as other subjects too. My favourite medium is oil although I enjoy
painting with acrylics and watercolours, as well. Oil gives you the
capability to develop your painting by blending the colours to the
right value and tone. My works are all original paintings and I do
not duplicate any of my paintings. For my work I always use very
high quality artist grade pigments such as Old Holland, W&N and
Michael Harding.
Artist statement:
"With my art I want to present what is all
around us in a very realistic way. I want to show the positive side
of life, the beauty of nature in all its forms and colours.
Unfortunately everyday through the media we hear a lot of negative
news of what is happening all over the world and this might have a
negative and unrealistic effect on us. If you think about it, a lot
of positive things happen everyday (much more than negative) but
unfortunately negative news hit more the news headlines. So with my
paintings, vibrant colours, tones and value I want to pass this
positive message about life, giving people time to think, reflect
and to relax."
